Anxious

My interview at Encompass last week seemed to be a success. I was slightly annoyed by the fact that the portfolio that I have put so much work into was barely touched in the interview. The day after the interview, I spent some time in the preschool classroom to observe and get to know the children. Fast forward to today. I have yet to find out if I got the job or not. I was told that even if I don't get this job, I could sub at all of the Encompasses (part time) and be a lead candidate for the next available job. I'm not interested in subbing. I would prefer stability, especially in this career field. It is important for me to get to know each child and staff member individually. I suck at learning names in the first place. Anyway, if I don't hear back from the center by tomorrow, I have decided that I will begin applying for more jobs. Applications are already filled out, just waiting to be dropped off.

I just heard my step dad use his famous line "Jesus Christ". If that isn't motivational enough to get a job and the hell out of this house, I don't know what is. It was kind of funny though. Mom and I prepared two messy suppers last night; tacos and sloppy joe's. I then did the dishes and put away the left overs. The dishes were left to dry over a towel on the counter over night. Mom and I like to leave them out and wait to see if anyone else will initiate putting them away without us having to ask. Needless to say, they end up sitting on the counter for sometimes 24+ hours at a time. Well today, I was about to put a load of towels in the washer, so I took the dry dishes off of the towel and set them on the stove. About an hour after I did that, as I'm sitting in my room and typing this up I hear "Jesus Christ, doesn't anyone put anything away around here!" and then I heard a bunch of clinking of pots and pans. Seriously? That task took maybe 30 seconds to finish. End rant.

A good friend of mine had her baby shower on Sunday. I had only found out Saturday that she was moving to New Mexico the day after her baby shower! She has been very busy, and surely had lost track of who she has shared this information with. I'm still glad that I was able to spend a few hours with her on Saturday before the shower. Hopefully I will soon have the chance to visit her and the baby in the near future (but not before saving up to move out of this house and visiting my father in Italy). Anyway, back to the baby shower. I had a real good time. I was especially amused to see my friends mom join in on the fun in New Mexico through SKYPE. It was even more amusing to see that she received 3 pack n' play's as gifts during the gift opening. I'm sure friend will have no problem using up nearly $300 in store credit after returning said gifts. Let that be a lesson to you future mother's and brides. If you are going to have more than one gift registry; don't choose the same item at both department stores. If you receive an item before the baby shower, remove it from your registry. Also, as a lesson to the rest of us gift givers; notify the store associate that the purchase is from your gift registry. Then the associate will ask to scan your registry bar code so purchases are credited to the correct registry. I repeat: your registry is only updated if the gift giver allows the cashier to scan your registry bar code. I thought that this information was common sense, but the fact that only 3 items were marked off on her registry proves otherwise.

It has been less than a week since I went to the dermatologist on Thursday and my hands are already seeing major improvements. I couldn't thank my doctor enough for improving my life with a selective list of remedies. Between the $20 co pay for my appointment, my medicated ointment, new cotton gloves, new face wash, and new body lotion, I have completely changed my life around in less than $100. I can't wait to see my doctor next week Thursday and show him the success. Hopefully he won't talk me into spending more money on the acne that he pointed out to me during our first visit. He believes that my anti seizure medication is the culprit. I have a higher list of priorities right now.

I came across an organization last night called Crazy Crayons. I recommend checking this website out. It has given me the sudden urge to want to collect broken crayons and re-create my own and spread the word to others. I know that any child care classroom would have bins full of them. If any of you have old silicone molds that you no longer want, I will gladly accept them for this purpose. The same goes for those of you with broken crayons.

  • This "recycling" education, community service has made it possible to stop more than 88,000 pounds of unwanted crayons from going into landfills with the help from schools, organization educators and kids across this country.  Thank you for your efforts to help the Earth.
  • The CRAYON RECYCLE PROGRAM takes unwanted, rejected, broken crayons to a better place, where they will be recycled into new crayons!
  • The program has drop-off bins nationally.
  • The CRAYON RECYCLE PROGRAM and Crazy Crayons, LLC work together, but neither one could exist without kids that care about the Earth.
  • We employ people with developmental disabilities, working on a positive impact through community service, environmental education and art.
  • All purchases of the CRAZY CRAYONS, Eco Stars, RECYCLE" Sticks, Earth Worms and Earthling Crayons support the CRAYON RECYCLE PROGRAM and recycling education.

I especially love the fact that they employ people with developmental disabilities, working on a positive impact through community service, environmental education and art. So spread the word my fellow earth loving companions.
